Mumbai: Maharashtra Lokayukta has said that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is making unnecessary excuses to delay the demolition of the wall of the premises of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan's bungalow 'Wait' in Juhu for a road-widening project. Maharashtra Lokayukta Judge V M Kanade, speaking about the delay in work by at least one year in the current situation, said the civic body should issue notice to deputy engineer (road) western suburb on delay.

BMC had said that he had not taken a part of the land from the plot of the bungalow as there was no contract for the road widening project near him. The Shiv Sena-controlled civic body also said that in the next financial year, when a road contractor is appointed for the target, it will demolish the wall and acquire the land.

The Lokayukta order said, "The reason for not breaking the wall by the BMC does not seem to be correct. Whenever a road widening project is taken up, adequate budgetary provision is made by the BMC for implementation. Obviously, BMC is delaying the demolition of the boundary wall on absurd pretexts. It also said, "It is a matter of General Knowledge that no sabotage action will be taken due to monsoon after 30th May. So, this work will be delayed by at least one more year.”
