Mumbai Dassehra tragedy: Five killed in  vehicles crash on Sea Link

MUMBAI : In a shocking tragedy on the day of Dassehra, five men were reportedly killed in a major road crash involving an ambulance and 4 cars speeding on the Bandra Worli Sea Link, early today morning (October 5), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Disaster Cell said.

On the southern (Worli side) arm of the sea link, the accident occurred at about 2.15 hours,  BMC officials said.
In addition to the fatalities, the collision between the five vehicles also injured another 8 people, some of whom were toll-post employees.

Stenar Jagdish Kadam, 36, Somnath Barnale, 32, Rajendra Singhal, 40, Gajraj Singh, 42, and Satendra Singh, 35, have been named as the deceased.

28-year-old Aliya Khan is one among the injured, and all the patients have been admitted to various city hospitals, BMC officials said.

Meanwhile, prime minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the fatalities in the Mumbai accident. "Condolences to the families of the deceased. I'm hoping for a quick recovery for those who were injured." 

According to a preliminary investigation, a speeding car crashed into the ambulance and three other vehicles which had halted there to take some victims of an earlier accident to the hospital.
