Mumbai Fire - Angry residents lodge  protest as level 3 fire in Chembur's high-rise residential building kills five

Mumbai: A fire which broke out on the 14th floor of Sargam Society in Chembur near Ganesh Garden in Tilak Nagar on Thursday night  has taken at least as many as five people lives in the deadly fire, according to ANI.

The firemen stationed  at the accident scene stated that the fire systems in the high-rise building were non-functional so Angry residents staged a protest and plan to register a complaint against the builder-as Times Now channel reported. Reports suggested that Residents has claimed that the builder had 'run away' and a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the fire department was not taken.

As per the reports three of the deceased people out of five have died because of asphyxiation.

 In addition A fireman got injured in the level three fire that broke out in the residential building. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in a stable condition. Reports also stated that Eight fire trucks, seven ambulances and a water tanker arrived the spot to carry out the rescue operation.

“We received a call at 7:46 pm. Eight fire engines, a water tanker and several ambulances were rushed to the spot. The fire has been doused completely, cooling down operation underway," Deputy CFO Mumbai, VN Panigarh  was quoted by news agency ANI. The cause of the fire has not been determined as yet and the rescue operation is still in progress.
