Surajpur: Police in Chhattisgarh's Surajpur district have detained a vicious man. The 23-year-old man is accused of raping and killing a young woman. Then he tried to show it an incident of suicide. The police reported this on Sunday. There is a lot of anger among the locals about this matter. On Saturday, in the Jarhi area of Surajpur, people gathered in large numbers to pay homage to the victim. They demanded that the guilty person be given the death penalty.

According to Surajpur Additional Superintendent of Police Harish Rathore, "The case took place on March 24. At the time of the investigation, police arrested one person on Saturday. He has been identified as Sabir Ali alias Baba Khan. He had allegedly strangulated the victim to death and then hung the body from a ceiling fan in her house."

According to the same investigation, the victim was a student of the 12th standard. On Thursday, she gave her practical exam. Thereafter, she returned to her home in Surajpur, about 300 km from Raipur. "The mother of the deceased girl was in Bilaspur to take care of her ailing father, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital there while her younger brother had gone out of the house to play," the investigating officer said, adding that the culprit went there after finding the victim alone in the house. He allegedly raped her and then strangulated her to death with her scarf. After that, the man hung the body from the fan and wrote a note with a pen in her hand, which made it look like a suicide incident. He said the victim's brother and neighbours later found him hanging and informed the police.
