Ujjain: Devotees will no longer be able to take selfies or shoot videos from their phones in the sanctum sanctorum and Nandi hall of the country's popular Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple. In the past, there were a lot of quarrels over the photo of the Ujjain mayor and a girl making a reel on the temple premises. Now to get rid of this, the temple management has banned taking pictures in the sanctum sanctorum, although the management is citing the complaint of delay in the darshan system as the reason behind this. Devotees are not able to have proper darshan due to taking pictures in the sanctum sanctorum. On the other hand, changes have also been made in the darshan system of the temple. Devotees will get a darshan slip. They have to come near Bade Ganesh Mandir. Here their photo will be taken and a photo and QR code slip will be given. Thereafter, devotees will be able to have darshan.
Due to the crowd in the sanctum sanctorum, common devotees could not have darshan. Now the number in the sanctum sanctorum has also been limited. Earlier, on the receipt of Rs 1500, entry was given in the sanctum sanctorum throughout the day, but only 1200 devotees would be able to visit the sanctum sanctorum in a day.
Right now thousands of people are coming to Mahakal Lok every day. They also take photos here. Temple administrator Sandeep Soni said that carrying mobiles in the temple is not prohibited. Devotees will not be able to take photographs only in the Nandi Hall and the sanctum sanctorum. The time of darshan has also been fixed in the sanctum sanctorum. Darshan will be possible in the sanctum sanctorum only from 6 in the morning to one in the afternoon and from six in the evening to eight at night.
