MYSURU: On Tuesday, Karnataka police arrested the seventh and last absconding suspect in the Mysuru gang-rape case in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. The arrest of the accused was confirmed by a media source.
Seven people who were involved in the heinous act have been arrested. All of the people detained are from Tamil Nadu's Tiruppur and Erode districts.

The detained youth is in his mid-twenties and will be taken to Mysuru on Wednesday. He'll appear in front of a local court and, more than likely, be taken into police custody for interrogation. He has been evading arrest for the past ten days. To apprehend him, police teams camped in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu police aided their Karnataka colleagues in apprehending all of the accused.

Soon after the gang-rape was reported early on August 25, police formed five groups to apprehend the culprits. Within four days of the incident, cops were able to apprehend five people, with another suspect being apprehended three days later.

Initially, just six people were suspected of being engaged in the crime. As a result, Alanahalli police have filed an FIR against six unknown people. Following the arrest of five people, including a 17-year-old kid, the identity of another suspect was revealed. He was detained right away for his suspected involvement in the crime.

The members had allegedly gang-raped a 22-year-old MBA student on Lalithadripura hillock, next to Chamundi Hills, on August 24. Her male companion was severely assaulted after their attempts to get money from them fizzled out. They had demanded Rs 3 lakh from the student couple before they took to the crime, sources stated.
