Several political parties has decided to not to attend the consultative meeting convened by the Nagaland government to discuss the Naga political issue and peace talks between Naga nationalist groups and the Central government. Naga People’s Front (NPF), the Nagaland Congress have decided to stay away from the meeting.

NPF Leader and former chief minister TR Zeliang said that the regional party would not attend the meeting. He pointed out CM Rio’s indifferent and wavering attitude as a deterrent towards finding the best and solution to the problem.   On the other hand, the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) during a meeting on Wednesday decided that the party will stay away from the scheduled consultative meeting called by the government on October 15 at Kohima. In a statement PAC of NPCC said, " PAC was unanimous in its opinion that convening this consultative meeting has become superfluous, because it has been made clear by the negotiating parties that talks have successfully concluded last year on October 31." The PAC  further said that Nagaland Governor and Govt of India have already a solution in their mind and  they expect a final agreement to be signed soon.

The statement says, “We have been reassured that Congress will stand with stakeholders in Parliament as and when the occasion arises. The PAC  also urged chief minister to uphold his commitment and avoid being an obstacle in paving way for post-solution arrangement”.  The further said “In view of the above situation, we will stay away from this ‘superfluous’ consultative meeting."
