Nagaland Mon killings: SIT to submit report to court after forensic reports

After receiving the forensic results of the deaths of 14 people by security personnel in Mon district on December 4 and 5, last year, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) will present its final report to the court.

The Nagaland government formed the SIT to investigate alleged security forces deaths. The incident involved 85 people and 37 security personnel, including 31 army jawans, according to Nagaland Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sandeep Tamgadge.

The SIT also paid multiple visits to the scene, after which exhibits, soil, and blood samples were submitted to the Guwahati and Hyderabad-based Central Forensic Science Laboratories. The SIT is now awaiting the forensics reports.The final SIT report will be submitted to the court when the forensic reports are received.

In December of last year, at least 14 people were killed by security staff in Nagaland's Mon area. The incident is said to have occurred as a group of labourers were travelling from Tiru village in a pick-up truck.
