New Delhi: An FIR has been registered against the 21st Para Military Force in Nagaland on Saturday night taking suo motu cognizance of the death of several civilians in an operation by security forces. The FIR says that 'on December 4, workers working in coal mines were returning to their village Oting from Tiru in a car. On reaching Longkhao between Tiru and Oting villages, security forces opened fire on the vehicle without any provocation, killing several people in Oting village and seriously injuring many.'

The FIR registered also said that 'there was no police guide during the incident nor was there a demand from the police station for the security forces to give a police guide in this case. It is clear that the intention of the security forces was to kill and injure the common people.' At least 13 people were killed in security forces firing in the Tiru area of the Mon district of Nagaland on Saturday night. This area is near the Myanmar border.

Although it is not officially reported yet how many people have lost their lives, according to media reports, at least 11 civilians have died. The state government has constituted a five-member committee to look into the matter and has been given a month's time to investigate.
