The Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department seized 397 grammes of heroin worth Rs 4.65 lakh in the local market, in separate raids in the previous two days,  and arrested three persons, including two women, according to an official.

On Saturday, the department recovered 255.6 gm of heroin worth Rs 3 lakh from the custody of a woman peddler in Dawngzawl, Serchhip district, according to the official.

Officials from the excise department seized 142 grammes of heroin from Ngur road in Champhai district on Sunday, the official said. Two people have been nabbed in the local market for possessing contraband worth Rs 1.65 lakh, he added. According to the official, the three defendants were charged under relevant parts of the Narcotics, Drugs, and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
