Gorakhpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gorakhpur today. Today, he is going to dedicate more than Rs.9600 crores of development projects to the nation. Let me tell all of you that the projects that PM Modi will dedicate to the nation include the Gorakhpur Fertilizer Factory, the foundation stone of which he himself laid in July 2016. In fact, before becoming the Prime Minister, pm Modi had promised to reopen the Gorakhpur Fertilizer Factory in January 2014 and now he is going to fulfill his promise.

The factory, which has been lying closed for the last 30 years, has been revived at a cost of Rs. Under the information received, Gorakhpur Unit of Fertilizer Corporation Limited (FCIL) was established in 1969 for production of urea as feedstock with Naphtha. The plant was closed in June 1990 due to continuous loss of FCIL arising out of technical and financial non-viability of operations, especially high cost of Naphtha. Let me tell you that Narendra Modi had raised the issue of closure of fertilizer plant in Gorakhpur at a rally in Gorakhpur before lok sabha elections 2014.

After becoming the Prime Minister, PM Modi worked towards revival of the closed fertilizer plant and laid the foundation stone of the revival of gorakhpur plant in 2016. It is said to be the plant that will supply urea to farmers and neighbouring states of Purvanchal region of UP. In addition, it will help in creating direct as well as indirect employment for both skilled and unskilled manpower of the sector.
