'Chidambaram' on CBI remand, Supreme Court gives date of hearing

Supreme Court on summoned senior Congress leader P. Singh. Chidambaram has been granted relief in the ED case and has been put on hold till Monday. The ED will begin its proceedings after completion of the CBI remand on Monday 26th August. The cbi hearing in the case was also postponed till Monday. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the two cases simultaneously on Monday.

According to media reports, there are two petitions filed by Chidambaram in the court. The CBI and ED have challenged the High Court's order rejecting anticipatory bail in the case. A team of lawyers led by Pil Sibal had approached the Supreme Court after the High Court rejected the bail plea on Wednesday.

For your information, the CBI's interrogation has been going on since Chidambaram was remanded. Former Finance Minister P. Singh, who was caught in the INX media case, said that the government is not in a position to do so. Chidambaram was remanded to CBI remand by a special court on Rauz Avenue on Thursday till August 26. The CBI had produced before Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar amid heavy security arrangements following the arrest of the former Home Minister late on Wednesday night.
