In the midst of a nationwide lockdown on Monday, the Karnataka government allowed bakery and its related food units in the state to open and operate with minimal staff amid a nationwide lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus. A circular issued by the government's secretary Rajendra Kumar Kataria states, 'The Central Government has taken up the functioning of bakery and food units engaged in biscuits, spices, confectionery and sweets for the construction, supply and operation of retail shops with minimum staff / labor. '

Regarding this matter, the circular stated that these units will strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka regarding preventive measures to combat Covid-19. The circular states that all employers will ensure that these units maintain high levels of health, hygiene and social disturbances. Units will not allow seating / eating on the premises and only parcels / takeaways will be allowed.

Such units have been exempted from lockdown to ensure the supply of essential goods in almost all the states. If the units of goods like bakeries etc. will also be banned, then people may have to face a lot of problems. However, the central government has not yet decided to pursue the lockdown.
