There is no quick plan to bring back Indian nationals stranded in Gulf countries due to lockdown and travel restrictions imposed due to Corona virus. Migrants have been granted visa extension. The Central Government counsel gave this information to the bench of Justice Rajavijairaghavan and Justice TR Ravi during the hearing on the petition filed in Kerala High Court seeking to bring back the stranded Indians in UAE.

The bench wanted to know from the Central Government the idea of sending a medical team to deal with the issue of Covid-19 epidemic among Malayalis in the Gulf countries of Kerala Government. In response to this, the counsel for the Center said that permission will have to be obtained from the Gulf countries in relation to sending medical teams of trapped Indians for medical examination.

The Kerala Muslim Cultural Center in Dubai, in its petition, has asked the Ministry of External Affairs and Civil Aviation to give relaxation in international air travel to bring back the stranded Indians in the UAE. The organization working for the diaspora of Kerala has mentioned that those who return can be kept in quarantine as per the protocol of the World Health Organization.
