New Delhi: For the first time a joint command of Army, Navy and Air Force is being deployed for the elimination of terrorists in Kashmir on the ongoing terror attack. Senior defense sources said that the Army Special Forces, Marine Commandos of the Navy and Garuda Special Forces of the Air Force have been deployed under the recently formed Armed Forces Special Operations Department. As part of the new strategy, the deployment of a joint special contingent near Srinagar has been started. This area is traditionally considered a stronghold of terrorists. Although the Navy and Air Force Special Forces have been campaigning against terrorists in the Kashmir Valley earlier, but for the first time all three are being brought under joint command. Major General Ashok Dhingra has been made the first head of the Armed Forces Special Operations Department.

Garuda team will be deployed in Lolab and Hajin: According to the information received, Marcos commandos of the Navy have been deployed in the Wullar lake area and the Garuda team of the Air Force in Lolab and Hajin area. The special force of the Air Force has already conducted a successful operation against the terrorists in the Kashmir Valley. Significantly, JP Nirala has been posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for killing six terrorists in the Hajin area.

There have been two exercises before this: Armed Forces Special Operations Department has also conducted two military exercises in different areas, in which the soldiers have to attack the enemy and take possession of the occupied area. Training was imparted. Among these, the first exercise was done in Kutch area and the second exercise was done in Andaman and Nicobar islands. The exercise in the Kutch area has been codenamed X Smelling Field and the exercise in Andaman has been codenamed DANX-2019.
