National Technology Day is celebrated every year on May  11 as the second nuclear-successful test by India was conducted on May 11, 1998, at Pokhran.  The whole of India celebrates this day to promote the development of India's technological capability in national institutes related to technology throughout the year. 

From that day onwards, it was decided to celebrate National Technology Day in India on May 11 every year, which was an important achievement of India in the field of nuclear test technology. On this day, the country's first aircraft Hans 3, manufactured in India, successfully conducted a flight test on May 11. The successful test-firing of the Indian-made Trishul missile was also conducted on May 11.

The day is celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of the first five tests of Operation Shakti's nuclear test. Each year this day is celebrated with different themes. On this day, the nation proudly remembers the achievements of its scientists. On this day, awards are also given to the scientists for their outstanding work, which was started by the Technology Development Board in 1999 under which Rs 10 lakh and a trophy are also given.
