The political drama that has been going on in Karnataka for over a month is over. B.S. Yeddyurappa was sworn in as Chief Minister for the fourth time on Friday. Yeddyurappa will prove majority in the Assembly on July 29. Amidst all this, some JDS MLAs are seen standing in support of the BJP. JDA MLAs have asked former CM Kumaraswamy to support the BJP. Some MLAs raised their demand from HD Kumaraswamy to join the BJP government in Karnataka or support him from outside. However, the MLAs have left the final decision to Kumaraswamy. Even if the BJP government is formed, the challenges are still over.

Yeddyurappa is scheduled to prove his majority in the House on July 31. Earlier, Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar has disqualified only three rebel MLAs so far. On Thursday, he had two rebel Congress MLAs Ramesh Zarkiholi and Mahesh Kumatahalli and an independent MLA R.K. Singh. Shankar was disqualified with immediate effect. Apart from the three, the fate of 14 rebel MLAs still hangs in the balance. That is why the BJP did not show any hurry in forming the government and delayed its claim to form the government.

According to media reports, the strength of the House is still 222 members and 112 MLAs will be needed to form the BJP government. With 106 MLAs, including an independent, the BJP is still far from a majority. If the rebel MLAs accept their resignation or disqualify them, the BJP will pass the floor test. However, there will be a headache by-election for him thereafter. To gain a majority after the by-election, it would need at least eight seats. That means the BJP will have to win by-elections on its own. CM Yeddyurappa will prove majority in the House on July 29. Earlier, after last year's elections, the BJP had failed to prove its majority by winning the most seats in the state. Yeddyurappa was sworn in as CM but will have to resign from his post if there is no majority figure before the floor test.
