Amritsar: A fortnight after resigning as Punjab Congress unit president, Navjot Singh Sidhu raised his issue at a meeting with party stalwarts at congress headquarters in Delhi on Thursday. He was summoned to Delhi by NICC general secretary and in-charge of the organisation KC Venugopal and party general secretary in-charge of Punjab Harish Rawat.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Harish Rawat said Sidhu told him that he would follow the decision of the party high command. He said, 'The direction of the party leadership is clear. He has been given the responsibility of empowering and energising the Congress in Punjab. He should do that.' Rawat further said Sidhu would make an official announcement on Friday. Sidhu had earlier said on Thursday that 'you will get all the information in this regard tomorrow.'
Speaking to reporters, Sidhu said, 'I have placed my concerns on congress and Punjab before the panel. I have full faith in Congress President Soniaji, Priyankaji and Rahulji. Whatever decision they make will be in the hit of Congress and Punjab (whatever decision is taken will be for the benefit of Congress and Punjab). I'll follow what they say.'
