Mumbai: With the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), there is a deadlock in many states regarding the National Population Register (NPR), which will start from April. Many of the states in which the opposition is in government have already announced not to implement the National Citizenship Register (NRC) and NPR. A Maharashtra minister has reacted to this.

Jitendra Awhad, a minister in the Uddhav government and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, said on the issue of implementing the National Population Register (NPR) in the state that CM Uddhav Thackeray had already said that the Maharashtra government would be in the country every 10 years Will help in getting data for census. But if anyone tries to do anything beyond this, the state government will not join it.

Let us tell you that the Kamal Nath government of Madhya Pradesh has also announced not to implement NPR in its state. In a statement, Kamal Nath clarified that he is yet to implement NPR in Madhya Pradesh. He said that the notification of NPR that is being talked about is on December 9, 2019. After this notification, the Central Government enacted the Citizenship Amended Act (CAA), which is why the NPR has not been notified under the CAA, 2019.
