Mumbai: In the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, there was a fierce debate on the issue of killing tigers by the local people. During the debate, NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) MLA Churchill Alemao said that humans are punished for killing cows, so tigers should also be punished for killing cows. It is also being said that last month, a tigress and her three cubs were killed by five local people in Mahadiya Wildlife Sanctuary.

According to the information received, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat raised this issue in the House during the Assembly session on Wednesday. Where he said that when a person eats beef, he is punished. At the same time, what punishment should a tiger eat on a cow? Alemao said tigers are important as far as wildlife is concerned, but in the same way cow is important for mankind.

The legislator said that the human view should not be ignored in the whole episode. It is being said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that he killed the tigers because of attacking the animals of the local people. At the same time, he said that compensation will be given to those farmers whose cattle have been killed in three to four days.
