Neerja Bhanot's life introduction: Neerja Bhanot is the name recorded in the pages of history, whose story of courage is famous all over the world. Neerja Bhanot is also said to be the first woman to be awarded the Ashok Chakra. She saved hundreds of lives from terrorists. Neerja Bhanot was born on September 7, 1963, in a Punjabi family. Her childhood was spent in Chandigarh. After completing her schooling at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School in Chandigarh, she shifted to Mumbai with her entire family. Neerja also had a bachelor's degree from St Xavier's College in Mumbai.

In 1986, a plane was waiting for the pilot to take off in Karachi, but suddenly 4 terrorists hijacked the entire aircraft and took possession of all the passengers at gunpoint. The terrorists were about to hijack the plane to carry out a major attack and demanded a pilot. But in the dark of night, Neerja opened the door of the plane with her presence of mind and saved all the passengers. However, during this time the terrorists opened fire and Neerja was martyred.

There were 360 people on board, who were saved by Neerja by putting her life at stake. She was the first Indian woman to be awarded the Ashok Chakra. She was also awarded the title of Tamgha-e-Insaniyat for her bravery. Her life was brought to the film screen.
