Neerja Bhanot's life introduction: Neerja Bhanot is the name recorded in the pages of history, whose story of courage is famous all over the world. Neerja Bhanot is also said to be the first woman to be awarded the Ashok Chakra. She saved hundreds of lives from terrorists. Neerja Bhanot was born on September 7, 1963, in a Punjabi family. Her childhood was spent in Chandigarh. After completing her schooling at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School in Chandigarh, she shifted to Mumbai with her entire family. Neerja also had a bachelor's degree from St Xavier's College in Mumbai.

In 1986, a plane was waiting for the pilot to take off in Karachi, but suddenly 4 terrorists hijacked the entire aircraft and took possession of all the passengers at gunpoint. The terrorists were about to hijack the plane to carry out a major attack and demanded a pilot.
