Kathmandu: Former Captain of Nepal cricket team Sandeep Lamichhane has been arrested by the police. The cricketer has been accused of raping a minor and an arrest warrant was also issued against him. Since then, Sandeep had been absconding abroad. Sandeep has now returned to Nepal. He had landed at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport where he was caught by the police. Police have taken Sandeep into their custody to investigate the rape case.

Former Nepal captain Sandeep Lamichhane was wearing full white joggers when he arrived at the airport. The police were stationed at the airport. They were waiting for Sandeep to come out. As soon as Sandeep got down, the Nepal police caught him. Recently, Sandeep has been accused of rape by a 17-year-old minor girl at a hotel in Kathmandu. After this, a court also issued an arrest warrant against Sandeep, but Sandeep, who was playing a cricket league abroad, did not return to Nepal. Meanwhile, the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) issued an order on September 8 suspending Sandeep.

During this time Sandeep was playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). After the warrant was issued, Sandeep left the league midway and was told that he would return to Nepal soon, but this could not happen. Sandeep had absconded and his location was also not available. Meanwhile, Sandeep has shared a post on social media and called himself innocent.
