New Delhi: The Indian cricket team has suffered injuries in recent months. Senior players like Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah could not participate in the ongoing T20 World Cup due to injuries. Now the new president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Roger Binny is very worried about the injuries of the players. Binny on Thursday (October 20) once again said that it is very important to deal with the problem of frequent injuries to the players. Binny had raised the issue even after taking over as BCCI chief.
Roger Binny has informed that Jasprit Bumrah's injury 10 days before the World Cup cannot be ignored. Three days before Team India left for Australia, Bumrah was out of the T20 World Cup. Mohammed Shami was infected with the coronavirus at the same time and so the BCCI had to wait till the last moment to include him in the team in place of Bumrah. Roger Binny has said at the Karnataka State Cricket Association's honour ceremony, 'We need to look into why players are getting injured so badly. Not just now but for the last four-five years. It's not that we don't have a good trainer or coach. Are the players too heavy or are they playing too much cricket? For this something needs to be done. This is my priority.'
Binny said that 'You cannot ignore Bumrah's injury 10 days before the World Cup and then who will replace him. It is important to deal with it. Binny also stressed on the importance of preparing better wickets for domestic tournaments like the Ranji Trophy.' He has told 'The pitches are not favourable for the fast bowlers right now. We also have to work on infrastructure. The domestic cricketers are being taken care of and given good facilities. I don't think there is a need for a central contract in domestic cricket.'
