New Delhi: Before starting his campaign in the T20 World Cup 2022, Team India captain Rohit Sharma has made it clear that he is not thinking about making it to the semi-finals or the final right now. Rohit said this in an interview given to BCCI. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared the video of Rohit's interview on social media. In the video, Rohit also told what plan Team India will enter the tournament.
This statement of Rohit is believed to be a reply to Kapil Dev's statement, in which he had expressed doubts about the Indian team reaching the semi-finals. Kapil Dev had said in Lucknow, 'The issue is whether Team India will be able to make it to the top 4? I am worried about them reaching the top 4 (semi-finals). Only then something can be said. For me, there is only a 30 per cent chance of Team India reaching the semi-finals.
At the same time, now Rohit Sharma has admitted that the match between India and Pakistan remains special from the beginning. He said that 'A large number of fans come to watch the Indo-Pak match and also watch the match on TV at home. The atmosphere is full of enthusiasm. He said, 'This match is important for India. In the T20 World Cup, we will start our campaign with this match. Well, we try not to let pressure on ourselves. Our focus is only on what our job is as a player. What do we need to do?'
Earlier, the captain of Team India had said that 'It is a matter of pride to captain Team India in the T20 World Cup. I am quite excited about it. I have the opportunity to do something special. It's a big tournament, but we don't talk much about it. Doing this helps us to execute our plan. Some players are playing in Australia for the first time. They also have to adjust to the situation. That's why we got here a little earlier.
Rohit Sharma further said, 'We want to win the World Cup again. For this, we have to do many things right. We are not thinking about the semi-finals or the final right now. Trying to do one thing at a time in the right way. We will prepare by focusing on the team with which we will compete. Trying to move ahead by winning every match.'
