LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Wednesday that the three-match T20I series between the home team Pakistan and the visiting West Indies, which was originally slated to take place in January 2023, has been postponedto the first quarter of 2024.

The 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, which will be held in the West Indies and the USA, was taken into consideration when the decision was made, according to PCB.

The three-match T20I series, which was originally scheduled to take place in Pakistan in January 2023, has been postponed to the first quarter of 2024, according to a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The shortest format matches will, therefore, assist both teams prepare for the competition, it was said. "The decision has been made since 2024 is an ICC Men's T20 World Cup year, with the event due to be hosted in the West Indies and USA in June 2024.

The current announcement of the ICC Future Tours Programme for the years 2023–2027 does not include the three-match T20I series.

Notably, Pakistan hosted the West Indies for an ODI and T20 series in May of this year. After the 50-over matches, though, the visitors discovered multiple cases of Covid-19 in their camp. As a result, both boards decided to postpone the T20 series and hold it in early 2023.
