May 09,2016: Government, “Around 105 villages were electrified crossways the country last week, taking the whole tally to 7,654” But,It has set a target of electrifying 18,452 villages by May 1, 2018.

Power Ministry in the statement said, "105 villages have been electrified across the country during last week (May 2-8, 2016) under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY),"

Of these, six be appropriate to Arunachal Pradesh, 33 in Assam, 12 in Jharkhand, 9 in Rajasthan, 23 in Bihar, 5 in Chhattisgarh, 3 in Odisha , 1 every in Manipur and Himachal Pradesh, and 12 in Uttar Pradesh.

"7,654 villages have been electrified till date," the statement further said.

In order to expedite the progress further, a close monitoring is being done through Gram Vidyut Abhiyanta (GVA) and various actions are also being taken on a regular basis, it added.
