New guidelines released in Goa regarding Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi

Panaji: Goa Disaster Management Authority has issued necessary guidelines regarding Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. In view of the increasing corona infection, guidelines have been released in the state. According to the new guideline, markets will be monitored by the concerned bodies and the police has been directed to ensure that people follow physical distancing.

Permission has not been given to organize 'Dahi Handi' during Janmashtami in any district of the state this year. No social gathering will be given permission in the district. People are instructed to follow Physical distancing, wearing masks, wash hands and using sanitizer to take care of all these criteria during the festival. As per the guidelines, "Monitoring of markets by local bodies and police will be ensured as social distancing norms have to be followed. Markets should be opened for long to prevent congestion".

During Ganesh Chaturthi, if a person crosses the Goa border to immerse Ganesh idol in the coastal areas and comes back within twenty-four hours, then they will not have to go in quarantine. During the festival, people of Goa origin living in different parts of India will be given permission to enter the state. However, they should have the Corona test report of the Authorized Lab by the Indian Council of Medical Research and must remain in quarantine till the date of the test result or for 14 days.
