In a latest development, IPS officer Sadanand Vasant has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), while IPS officer Piyush Anand will be taking charge as the Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), ANI reported.

According to an official statement, Sadanand Vasant Date, an IPS officer from Maharashtra cadre (batch of 1990), will assume the position of Director General of NIA at Level-16 of the Pay Matrix, effective immediately and serving until his retirement on December 31, 2026, or until further notice. This appointment comes following the superannuation of Dinkar Gupta, an IPS officer from the Punjab cadre (batch of 1987), on March 31, 2024.

Furthermore, the statement announced the appointment of Piyush Anand, an IPS officer from Uttar Pradesh cadre (batch of 1991), currently serving as Special DG of CISF, as the Director General of NDRF. His appointment entails a temporary upgrade of the position to Level-16 of the pay matrix, effective for a two-year period starting from the date of assuming office or until further notice.
