New Delhi: The construction work of the new parliament building will start in December 2020. It is expected to be completed by October 2022. Efforts will be made to make the new Parliament House completely paperless. For this, digital facilities will be provided to every MP. A review meeting was held under the leadership of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday to prepare for the construction of the new Parliament House. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri also attended the meeting.
Officials of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs told Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla through a presentation that the new building will have separate offices for Members of Parliament. Among other facilities provided to members, the seats of every Member of Parliament in the rooms will be more comfortable. The new Parliament House will also have a lounge for MPs, library, 6 committee rooms for committees meetings and dining room.
At the meeting, Birla was informed about the progress made for the transfer of existing facilities and other structures from the proposed area for the construction of the new building. It is explained in detail about the various measures to be taken to make the enclosure around this area and to control air and noise pollution during the construction process.
