In a recent development, the Indian Air Force has finalized a supply order for the production of UXOR, a advanced  robot designed to defuse bombs weighing up to 1,000 kilograms. Named the Unexploded Ordnance Handling Robot (UXOR), this advanced technology has been specifically created to tackle unexploded bombs.

The necessity for such a robot became evident following the Balakot strike, during which Pakistani forces targeted Indian Army installations in retaliation. This attack resulted in unexploded bombs scattered across affected areas. UXOR's primary function is to eliminate the need for humans to handle bomb defusal operations, enhancing safety and efficiency in such critical situations.

Operated from a mobile center, these robots are remotely controlled by DRDO scientist Alok Mukherjee explained, "These robots can be controlled from a distance of up to 2 kilometers. Operators have the capability to identify and neutralize explosives using high-pressure water jets." Alok Mukherjee has been an integral part of the team behind the development of the UXOR.

This innovative technology marks a significant step forward in ensuring the safety of bomb disposal operations and minimizing risks faced by human bomb disposal experts.
