New Delhi: The national capital Delhi is witnessing a sudden surge in cases of corona infection. It is being told that the sub-variant ba.2.12.1 of omicron is behind the sudden increase in corona cases in Delhi. In fact, the sample of most of the corona patients in Delhi has confirmed omicron BA.2.12.1. A well-known us expert has warned that BA.2.212 spreads more rapidly than the BA.2 variant of omicron. It is being told that this new BA.2.212 variant is responsible for the increase in corona cases in the US in the recent past.
Delhi on Wednesday recorded 1,009 fresh coronavirus cases, up 60 per cent from a day earlier. Experts believe that at the moment, 8 variants of Corona are spreading in Delhi. These include the omicron and all its variants. Regarding the new strain, the legendary physician Eric Tool has informed that the wave of Omicron BA.2 is rapidly turning into BA2.12.1. One study also showed that the new strain ba2.12.1 omicron spreads at 2.5 times faster than ba.2.
Meanwhile, an official source on the rapidly spreading corona infection in Delhi has said that the new sub-variants BA.2 12 (in 52 per cent of the samples) and BA 2.10 (in 11 per cent of the samples) have been found, showing high transmission. More than 60 per cent of the total samples taken in Delhi have been found recently. The source said it looks like BA.2.12 spreads more rapidly than the BA.2 variant of omicron. It is seeing an increase of about 30% to 90% per week.
