In the ongoing World T20 Cup, New Zealand lost their first again Pak by 5 wickets. There is also a major setback for Kiwis as their star speedy bowler Lockie Ferguson will not be able to play any of the upcoming matches. Though, while the toss before the match, the Kiwi captain gave a piece of bad news. Fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup. He got injured while the IPL season playoff.

Ferguson plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL. Ferguson was injured during the IPL 2021 playoffs. He had suffered an injury near the knee (caf muscle tear) during the same. Because of this, he could not play 1 or 2 games. Despite this, he recovered before the final and played the final for KKR. Following this, his problem got more critical approaching the World Cup. 

While playing for Kolkata Knight Riders Ferguson took 13 wickets in 13 matches in IPL 2021. Ferguson has a total of 24 wickets in his T20 Internationals career. New Zealand head coach Gary Stead stated that this is a piece of very sad news for us. We are saddened by the report of the injury merely before the match. He was a big part of our strategy.
