Auckland: Trent Boult will come back to the New Zealand squad in addition to NZ captain Kane Williamson for the T20 series to begin against Pakistan. Both will be available in the squad for the last two games of the three-match series. The first match will be played on December 18. The second match will be played on December 20 and the third on December 22.

Ross Taylor has not been included in the team. Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway have found a place in the team. Mitchell Santner has been made the captain of the team in the first T20 match. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said, "The T20 series is being launched only three days after the Test match at Wellington. Williamson and Boult, Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson and Daryl Mitchell will be present for the second and third matches.'

New Zealand squad for first T20: Mitchell Santner (captain), Todd Astle, Doug Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Martin Guptill, Scott Kuggeleijn, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert (wicketkeeper), Ish Sodhi, Blair Tickner.
