USA: According to a notice posted by the Federal Aviation Administration, SpaceX's Starship rocket could conduct its first orbital test flight next week (FAA).

The rocket will be able to transport cargo and astronauts to destinations such as Mars, the Moon, and Earth's orbit. On April 10, the test launch is anticipated to take place. Additionally, the organisation has two backup dates: April 11 and 12.

For several months now, SpaceX has been getting ready for the Starship rocket's first-ever orbital test flight. The Super Heavy first-stage booster and Starship upper-stage spacecraft make up the 394-foot-tall rocket system.

Both parts are made to be completely reusable. The company's Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas, will serve as the launch pad for the Starship rocket.

The rocket is anticipated to launch Starship's second stage into space, where it will orbit the planet once in its entirety before returning to Earth. Off the coast of the Hawaiian island of Kauai, in the Pacific Ocean, it is anticipated to splash down.

The Super Heavy booster will be brought to a landing area not far from the Texas launch site.

The CEO of SpaceX, Elon Musk, previously estimated that Starship's test launch has a 50% chance of success. However, the company is constructing a number of Starship prototypes and plans to launch them right away when they are complete.

According to the Airborne Science Program calendar maintained by NASA, the two days of 10 and 11 April have been set aside for the use of the high-altitude WB-57 aircraft.

The space agency might use the WB-57 to watch Starship's test flight, according to Ars Technica. As part of the Artemis moon missions, NASA intends to use the SpaceX Starship as a "lunar lander for its astronauts."

It would be necessary for Starship to obtain a launch permit before it launches on its initial orbital flight test. According to FAA, "the FAA has not determined whether to issue a licence for the SpaceX Starship Super Heavy operation, and the FAA's Command Center planning notice should not be interpreted as an indicator that a determination to issue a licence has been made or is on the horizon."
