BANGALORE:  The National Investigation Agency (NIA) was conducting many raids in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka in connection with the retaliation murder case of BJP Yuva Morcha member Praveen Kumar Nettaru, sources said on Tuesday.

As per sources info, the sleuths were conducting 32 raids in the Puttur and Sullia regions with help of the state police department. The investigation is now concentrated on identifying those responsible for the July 26 murder of Praveen in retaliation.

The CBI was looking into the network responsible for the killings and assaults of BJP employees and Hindu activists. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, a detailed investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the crime.

Masood was murdered in the road rage case, and Praveen was killed to exact revenge. Even though the police were able to apprehend all eight suspects within 24 hours of the incident, miscreants singled out Praveen despite the BJP activist's good rapport with all facets of society.

The investigation found that Praveen's murder was committed to send a message and instill fear and panic in the minds of the locals. But after Praveen was killed, another person was killed in retaliation. A few days later, as payback, a group killed Mohammad Fazil Mangalpet by hacking him to death.

Following the unsettling events, the BJP's decision to award Praveen's family Rs 25 lakh in compensation while ignoring Masood and Fazil's families sparked outrage.

The NIA is also looking into the rise in intolerance in the sensitively divided Dakshina Kannada district and coastal region.
