Australia's Nick Kyrgios has said that he has had to face racial comments from spectators amid his defeat to Andy Murray in the semi-finals of the Stuttgart Open tennis tournament. Kyrgios, after losing 7-6 (5), 6-2 to Murray, posted on Instagram that he got to hear the outrageous comments of the spectators in the match played on Saturday.

He wrote in a post on Instagram, "When will all this stop? Facing the racist comments of the audience?' Kyrgios continues, saying, 'I know my behaviour is not the best at all times but comments like 'black sheep' and 'shut up and play' are not acceptable at all. I am punished when I respond to the audience. That is not correct. According to media reports, Murray is set to play his first grass-court singles final since winning Wimbledon in 2016, in which he will face second seed Matteo Berrettini of Italy. Berrettini defeated Oscar Otte 7-6 (7), 7-6 (5) in a hard-fought match without a service break.

Some time ago, it was reported that Andy Murray withdrew from his match against Novak Djokovic, the top-ranked player in Madrid Open tennis, due to illness. The announcement came shortly before the start of the third-round match between the two players. Murray, who returned from a hip surgery twice, had beaten Dominic Thiem and Denis Shapovalov in his opening two matches in Madrid.

This was the first time since January this year that the former world number one has won two matches in a row. No further information about Murray's illness is available at the moment. Murray's current ranking is 78 and is constantly improving.  A few months ago, there were reports that top seed Daniil Medvedev defeated Andy Murray 6.4, 6.2 in the second round of the Miami Open tennis and is now eyeing to reach the semi-finals to achieve the number one ranking. At the moment, at number one is Novak Djokovic of Serbia.
