New Delhi: In the first tenure of the Modi government, the first Minister of Commerce and Industry and then-defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has now been given charge of the Ministry of Finance. She has become the country's first full time women finance minister. While being the Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi had became the Finance Ministry in the middle of 1970-71. The record of becoming the first full time female defense minister is also named after Nirmala Sitharaman. Even before Nirmala, this name comes from Indira Gandhi's name.

During the first tenure of the Modi government, Nirmala was first given the charge of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the form of an independent charge of the Ministry of State. After this She was sworn in as a cabinet minister and he was appointed Defense Minister. Now PM Narendra Modi has given him the finance ministry during the second term.

Nirmala Sitharaman was born on August 18, 1959 in a family of Tamil Nadu, from a general. His father was working in the railway and mother used to handle the house.

She used to be transferred frequently in the father's job, due to which he lived in many parts of Tamil Nadu. Sitharaman took his initial education from Tiruchirapalli of Tamil Nadu only. He was a graduate in economics. After this, for the masters, he received education at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.
