New Delhi: The speed limit for vehicles on National Highways and Expressways in the country may be increased soon. Talking to the media, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that we are in favour of increasing the speed limit, but there are some hurdles between the apex court and the high court. Because of this, we are not able to increase the speed limit even if we want to. We are now preparing and will take steps to increase the speed limit of vehicles through Parliament, Gadkari said.

Nitin Gadkari said the speed limit parameters of vehicles in India are one of the key challenges for us. The Supreme Court and the High Court have some decisions on car speed, which is why we are not able to do anything. Such expressways have been built all over the country today and not a single dog comes on those roads as barricades have been carried out on both sides of the road. In that case, we have planned that all parameters will be changed by bringing bills in Parliament. Gadkari said there is a mindset about the speed that if the speed of the car increases, there will be an accident. Get out of this perception, for which we're creating files. It has been preparing speed limits ranging from expressways to highways and roads in cities and districts. In a democracy, we have the right to make laws and justices have the right to decide on them.

Nitin Gadkari said that my personal view is that the speed limit of cars on expressways and highways should be 120 to 140 kmph. Similarly, national highways should have a speed limit of 100 kmph on four-line roads, 80 kmph on two-line roads on state highways and 75 kmph on city roads. At the same time, he said that I can technically limit 200 km, but questions will start to arise on us.
