Patna: A major decision has been taken amid prohibition in Bihar. Now the drinker will not be sent to jail if caught. In return, they will only have to give all the information about the liquor mafia. On the information received, if the liquor mafia is detained, then the drinker will not have to go to jail. This information has been given by excise commissioner Kartikeya Dhanji. In fact, this big decision has been taken due to the increasing number of drunkards in the jails of Bihar. The decision was taken in the meeting held today. Bihar Police and Prohibition Department have also been given special powers in this regard.

The burden was on both the jail and the court: The Bihar government had presented a figure in November of 2021, which surprised the people. It said that from January 2021 to October 2021, 49,900 people were detained in the districts of the state in special raids. In which the names of the drunkard and liquor smuggler were also present. Meanwhile, a total of 38 lakh 72 thousand 645 litres of illicit liquor was seized.

Along with the jails, the courts in Bihar had also been burdened with cases of prohibition. The case later reached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had also made time to worry about the bail plea in the court. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for March 8, before which the Bihar government has now taken a major decision not to arrest.

After the prohibition, liquor smugglers had become active in Bihar, about which the opposition was constantly raising questions. The Nitish government's liquor ban has come to be called a failure in the state. Questions were raised by assembly speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha himself on the way the police functioned. He had said that if 100 bottles of liquor are seized, the police show only 5. Recently, the Bihar government had also left hi-tech helicopters behind liquor mafias. It consisted of four helicopters, of which three unmanned drone helicopters and one four-seater helicopter are also being reported.
