New Delhi: At present, there is a fierce uproar in the Citizenship Amendment Act in the country and due to this, the violence has killed more than 40 people in Delhi, while in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai presented the data for the last five years Tax has created panic. Rai has informed in a written reply to a question that the Central Government has granted citizenship of India to 18 thousand 999 people in the last five years.

According to this reply, a total of 18,999 citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Myanmar have been approved as Indian citizens between 2014 and 2019. According to data presented by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, the government has made the maximum number of 15,394 citizens of five neighboring countries in the year 2015. In 2015, the government recognized 14,864 citizens of Bangladesh after signing the Indo-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement. These 14,864 Bangladeshi nationals were granted citizenship of India under Section 7 of the Citizenship Act 1955.

If we remove the figures of this treaty of 2015 from the list, then from 2014 to 2019, the number of Indian citizenship every year did not increase unexpectedly. In 2014, a total of 544 citizens of these five neighbouring countries were approved to become citizens of India. Whereas in 2015 the number of non-treaty cases was 530. After this, 988 in 2016, 677 in 2017, 511 in 2018 and 885 citizens of neighbouring countries were made Indian in 2019.
