Tech billionaire Elon Musk stirred controversy with remarks about the recent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump. Musk questioned why there have been no similar threats against President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The incident occurred on Sunday when gunshots were fired outside a Florida golf course where Trump was playing. The FBI reported that Trump was the target of an assassination attempt, but both his campaign and law enforcement confirmed he was unharmed.

In response to a query from a user on X about why there are threats against Trump, Musk wrote, "And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala." Musk, who is known for his support of Trump, frequently posts in his favor.

The US Secret Service confirmed that its agents fired at a gunman near the golf course and recovered an "AK-47 style rifle" along with a video camera. While authorities have yet to confirm if the gunman, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, fired at Trump, it is known that Secret Service agents engaged the suspect, who was found hiding in the bushes.

Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., highlighted that an AK-47 was discovered near the scene. He noted on X, "Again folks! SHOTS FIRED at Trump Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida. An AK-47 was discovered in the bushes, per local law enforcement."

This attempt follows another incident two months ago when Trump was shot at during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, resulting in a minor injury to his ear. The attacker was promptly neutralized by security.

The White House has briefed President Biden and Vice President Harris about the incident. President Biden issued a statement condemning political violence, saying, "There is no place for political violence or for any violence ever in our country."
