Lucknow: Even after strictness at the time of harvesting Kharif crops, cases of stubble burning by farmers continue to be reported. This increases the level of pollution in the air manifold. In many states of North India, a suffocating-like situation arises. However, this time the governments of various states have already geared up to tackle the problem. In this sequence, the Uttar Pradesh government has prepared a scheme that will not require farmers to burn stubble.
The UP government is very strict against those who burn stubble. Many instructions are also issued by the government from time to time to not burn stubble. Now the Yogi government is encouraging people to set up a unit of agricultural waste-based bio CNG, CBG (Compressed Bio Gas) plant. Farmers will also benefit from setting up such units. In return for buying stubble, these units will also give money to the farmers, which will increase their income.
Under the Submission on Agriculture Mechanization Scheme by the Central Government, a subsidy of up to 20 per cent is provided for setting up the plant. Apart from this, a 30 per cent subsidy is given by the state government. In addition, bio-enterprise units which are not receiving capital production under any policy and scheme will be provided 15% production equivalent to the cost of the unit.
The state government is setting up an agricultural waste-based bio CNG, CBG (Compressed Bio Gas) unit at Dhuriapar in Dakshinanchal, Gorakhpur, at a cost of around Rs 160 crore. The plant will be operational by March 2023. It will use paddy husk, sugarcane leaves and dung along with wheat and paddy stubble. During this time, the installation of the unit will also open up employment opportunities directly to the people nearby.
