New Delhi: People continue to leave their city and run towards their respective villages amidst the nationwide lockdown. The atmosphere of chaos is being seen all over the country. Nobel laureate Abhijeet Banerjee has reacted to this, that fear has seized in the people (expatriates) because the rules on the ground are not clear. Abhijeet Banerjee said this in a special conversation with the media.

Banerjee further said that, people are running towards the villages because they are afraid and they are not knowing whether they are guaranteed to get something during the coronavirus epidemic. He said that he is not surprised at the return of the people to the village because they have some means to spend their lives in the village. Nobel laureate Abhijeet Banerjee told the media that the economic pressure on the migrants is clear. They will have some land and other means to live in the village.

He said that most of these expatriates also reach home from the city. Now what will they trust. The construction site they work on, they get to live there. Now these sites are closed. Where will they go in such a situation? Abhijeet Banerjee further said that whatever laws are on the ground are not clear, which has created fear and insecurity among the migrant people. It is very important that the central and state governments indicate to the people that it is the entire responsibility of the government to take care of them in the event of loss of business.
