New Delhi: In order to reduce the anxiety level of people standing in queues to exchange or to withdraw the money, top government sources, assured that usual banking process should recommence by the end of the month, as the production of Rs. 2,000 notes is almost done and all the ATMs to be recalibrated by then.

The Reserve Bank of India, said on Thursday, “that there is sufficient supply of notes consequent upon increased production which started nearly two months ago".

Already, the amount, which people can withdraw from bank limits to 2,000 rupees. But, the old notes can be deposited in banks till December 30.

According to sources, “the government decided to print Rs. 2,000 notes first instead of Rs. 500 or Rs. 1,000 notes to swap the currency, because this was the fastest way to replace currency, as the entire action being kept undisclosed.”
