Defending champion and top-ranked player Novak Djokovic has made it to the quarterfinals of the French Open Tennis Grand Slam for a record 16th time here on Sunday. Serbia's top seed has won 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 over 15th seed Diego Schwartzman of Argentina on the Suzanne Lenglen court. Although Djokovic was trailing 0-3 in the second set, he won the set by winning 7 games in a row and then managed to take a 1-0 lead in the third.

Djokovic has also won all 12 sets in 4 matches so far at Roland Garros this year. Djokovic, who has won 20 Grand Slam titles, has reached the quarter-finals for 13 years in a row at Roland Garros, in 2016 and last year. He is only behind Rafael Nadal in the case of trophies, who also has 21 trophies to his name. Djokovic and Nadal are set to face the quarterfinals again if they have won the fourth round match against 13-time French Open champion Felix Auger Ellisime.

In the women's category, US Open runner-up Laila Fernandez of Canada has managed to make it to the quarterfinals for the first time with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over 27th seed and reaching the semi-finals here in 2019. The 17th seed will now face Italy's Martina Trevisan, who has defeated Aleksandra Sasnovich 7-6, 7-5. At the same time, 18-year-old Coco Gow has also won 6-4, 6-0 over Belgium's 31-seeded Ellyse Mertons.
