New Delhi: Violent protests against the central government's 'Agneepath Scheme' are slowly engulfing the entire country. The fire, which started from Bihar, has engulfed 10 states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Bengal. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait has also jumped into the matter. Tikait criticised the Agneepath scheme, saying there was a need for a nationwide agitation.

Talking about the issue of farmers, Rakesh Tikait said that the country needs another big movement. Criticising the Agneepath scheme, Rakesh Tikait said, "Till now, the youth could have served in the Army for at least 15 years and also got pension after retirement, but under the new scheme, when they retire, they will have to return to their homes without a pension."

Tikait further said that following the same logic, a similar law should be made for MLAs and MPs. "MLAs and MPs can contest elections till the age of 90 and after that they also get pension. But even after four years of service, it is wrong not to give pension to the youth. We will not allow this to happen," he said, adding that the Bharatiya Kisan Union will agitate against the Agneepath scheme.
