AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has questioned the approval of the Union Cabinet for the update of the National Civil Register (NPR). Owaisi said that NPR had happened in the UPA government, now what is the need for the government to update it. He said that there is a difference between the NPR of UPA and Modi government, why is the Modi government talking about linking NPR with Aadhaar. After the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Owaisi has now added NPR to NRC as well. Owaisi has held a special discussion with the media on Tuesday about NPR in Hyderabad.

In his statement, Owaisi said, 'Amit Shah had said that NRC will come with my name in Parliament. The Home Minister (MHA) must tell the truth. Owaisi has demanded that the death of 18 people should be investigated in UP.

The Home Minister clearly said that NPR is the register of population, based on which the size of different schemes of the country is formed. The proof is asked of people in NRC on which basis they are citizens of the country. NRC and NPR do not have any transaction among themselves and neither can be used in any one process. Regarding NRC, the Home Minister said that what the PM has said on Sunday is right. No consideration has been given to this yet. If NRC has to be done, nothing will be done in secret.
