NTR Gardens in Hyderabad to install Ambedkar statue

Hyderabad:Telangana Industry and Commerce Minister KT Rama Rao announced on Thursday that a 125-foot-tall statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar will be erected soon in Hyderabad's NTR Gardens.

Rao said at the opening of the 2BHK Dignity Housing Colony in Indira Nagar, "This site for 2BHK housing would be the greatest in the city. There is an IMAX theatre on one side, and a 125-foot statue of Ambedkar will be built soon on the other."

He also announced the construction of a marriage hall for the underprivileged on property owned by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) in Khairatabad ward. "A function hall would be built on the site to benefit the poor, even though the State government can gain lakhs of income by auctioning the HMDA land parcel spanning over one acre," the Minister stated.

The event was attended by Minister of Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar, and others.
