Nyishi Youth Association accused of hiring goons to support the bandh

IGP (Law and Order) Chuku Appa of Arunachal Pradesh has alleged that the state has witnessed for the first time that an organisation, All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA), has hired anti-social aspects from other states on the basis of payment to disrupt law and order during the state's 36-hour bandh call.

ANYA makes every attempt to disrupt peace in the State capital by employing anti-social elements, Apa stated in a press conference at the police headquarters on Friday. However, swift police response avoided a severe breach of the peace. He further stated that no one was killed or property was damaged as a result of the bandh call. On Friday morning, however, a few groups of youths attempted to set fire to the Food and Civil Supplies Directorate in Papuhill, Naharlagun.

"A few documents and furniture items were burnt down. Apparently one adult and eight juveniles have been apprehended from the spot. Later, an FIR (No. 2/22 u/s 436 IPC r/w 3 PDPP Act) was registered at the Papuhill Police Station," he said.Earlier, a case (No. 3/22 u/s 120b/121a/147/149/150/188/341/427/511 IPC r/w section 83(2) of JJ Act) was registered at Naharlagun Police Station.

By the end of the 36-hour bandh call, he added, 45 people had been detained and 20 juveniles had been apprehended, based on inputs and inquiries.
