NEW DELHI: The 2023 One Day International (ODI) World Cup in India is expected  to start on October 5 with the final to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19, read a report.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shortlisted at least twelve venues for the ten-team marquee event, which will see four dozen matches, including three knockouts across the 46-day period, an ESPN cricinfo report said.
Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, and Mumbai round up the list of the other 11 shortlisted venues.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India  has not yet announced the venues of any of the matches, with the exception of the championship game, which will take place in Ahmedabad in the largest stadium in the world.

India had won the title when it last hosted the fifty-over World Cup in 2011.

In October last year, media reported that the BCCI was trying to negotiate and bring down the tax surcharge percentage to 10.92% from the existing demand of 21.84%. It said that the BCCI could lose around Rs 955 crore if the centresticks to its decision to levy 21.84% tax surcharge on ICC’s broadcast revenue from the 2023 ODI World Cup.

In 2011, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and India all worked together to host the World Cup. India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final, which was held in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Previously, the event was co-hosted by India in 1987 and 1996.
